Tamang Heritage Trek - 11 Days

On arrival at Nepal’s one and only International airport known as ‘Tribhuvan’ where our staff and guide will receive you with warm welcome with garland, and then transfer to your hotel in the hub of Kathmandu in Thamel area or near about. After getting refreshed from the flight, our guide will brief with information regarding Tamang Heritage Trail Trekking, includes norms do’s and don’ts with evening group dinner in a pleasant Nepalese restaurant with culture shows as entertainment.

A world heritage tour in Kathmandu where you will join in for exciting sightseeing tour led by our city guide showing you the wonders of ancient history and culture of Nepalese way of traditional life. Kathmandu city with Patan and Bhaktapur steeped with World Heritage Sites, our half day last for 3-4 hours with lunch breaks and then back to your hotel, afternoon preparation for next day Tamang Heritage Trail Trekking.

Starting early morning with an interesting overland journey towards North West from Kathmandu on winding uphill towards cooler green high hills to enter into Langtang region at Dhunche, the headquarter town of Rasuwa within Langtang Himal area, in the country habitants of mostly Tamang people an ethnic Hill tribe of Central Nepal. Dhunche, a scenic town offers view of Ganesh and Langtang Himal as far towards Jugal Himal range towards east. From here downhill to Syabrubesi village, a nice Tamang village located within green hills and valley cooler climate includes views of snow-clad peaks.

From Syabrubesi village where our first day walks of the journey heads to cultural Gatlang village past Goljung, as the walk leads through Tamang cultural villages with views Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung and adjoining peaks. As the journey progress walking past farm villages and then a slow climb to reach one of the largest Tamang villages at Gatlang for overnight stop, arriving at Gatlang with warm welcome greeted with Khada (religious silk scarf) and transfers you to local homes for overnight stay, with time to visit around the villages and interact with the locals. Gatlang, perched on a high hill with well tended terraced farms with traditional stone houses. One can visit a Tamang monastery and beautiful Parvatikunda Lake at Gatlang, the cultural show at Goljung and Gatlang makes your trekking day much special.

Today’s walk begins with a descent to Thangbuchet, on the way enjoy views of Langtang Mountain range and Ganesh Himal with Tibet Mountains towards north, walk leads past small farm villages and into alpine woodlands to reach at Tatopani for overnight stop. Afternoon visit hot springs ‘Tatopani’ means hot water rising from the fresh spring with time for short walk around villages. Tatopani signifies ‘hot water’; it is believed that a dip into the spring heals you from pain and aches and relaxes your tired muscles, afternoon with time to experience Tamang culture exploring the village and interacting with the locals.

Morning walk from Tatopani leads to Thuman via Nagthali and Bimthang as the trail leads into dense alpine forest, chances of spotting monkeys and deer. On reaching Nagthali with clear views of Langtang Himal, Kerung, Ganesh Himal. Nagthali used to be a popular meditation center of local monks and priests. From here another hour walks to reach at cultural village of Thuman, where you can observe Shamanic performances with view of Langtang Himal.

Our journey leads to Briddim village on route visit nearby historical Rasuwagadi the border of Nepal / Tibet, China with an old fort. The fort here is a historical reminder of the Nepal Tibetan relations that have existed for many centuries. Walk today leads you with an opportunity to observe Tamang culture and traditional village life. After an interesting time with views of Ganesh and Langtang Himal, a nice and pleasant walk on winding path with a climb to a ridge overlooking more views of mountains and surrounding landscapes and entering rhododendron, pines and oaks forest, and then climb with short downhill to reach at Briddim for overnight stop Briddim, another Tibetan Buddhist village located on old trade route of Nepal and Tibet here enjoy the folk and cultural show performed by local community.

A pleasant walk from Briddim with few ups and down with rest of the walk on gradual winding trail past terraced farm fields and villages, where trail descend to join a path coming from upper Thulo Syabru and Syabrubesi near Riverside Lodge, walk leads into cool forest within River gorge of Trisuli in the midst of tall rhododendron and oaks forest after six hours walks reaching a small open area at Lama-Hotel for overnight stop.

Our final day of the trek leads on the same trail which gives you time to enjoy the views along the route, morning walk follows downhill into cool shade of forest, as walk leads through farm fields and nice tended terraces to reach at Syabrubesi for last overnight stop around beautiful Langtang region.

Our adventure with last day around Rasuwa district within Langtang Himal completes today as the morning leads to exciting drive through farmlands, village and town to reach Kathmandu after an enjoyable and great moment on Tamang Heritage Trail Trekking. Afternoon free at leisure for shopping souvenirs, evening farewell group dinner in a nice Nepalese restaurant with Folk dance programs as entertainment.
