Overview Nayakanga Peak Climbing 20 Days

Nayakanga Peak Climbing is one of Nepal’s permitted trekking peaks in Nepal. Several peaks in Nepal offer a variety of climbing challenges. Many Peak with no technical difficulty, and we would hope to climb a possible five peaks, including Nayakanga Peak Climbing.

Starting from Kathmandu by bus to Syabrubensi, begin our trek to the Langtang valley, taking the direct approach via the Langtang Khola. Four days of good walking in the Langtang Valley Trek on the ups-and-downs path, through the dense forest of oak, birch, pine and then rhododendron, leads to the tree-line and then to Kyangjin Gompa (3,749m). Kyangjin is a splendid base in a beautiful setting of high snowy mountains from which to acclimatize and plan our explorations and climbs of the upper valley. The group will have enough days to explore further afield, and we will move our base camp higher, depending on the objective.

Acclimatization Days in Nayakanga Peak Climbing

Normally, while you plan to go high-altitude trekking and peak climbing in Nepal, you most likely need an acclimatization day for the achievement of Nayakanga Peak Climbing. These acclimatization days can be spent exploring the upper Langtang valley, beyond the rich meadows of Langshisa Kharka, which Tilman first explored while probing for routes into Tibet. These upper meadows are rarely visited by trekkers and are home to large herds of thar, the valley ending in a massive wall of mountains, forming the frontier with Tibet.

Climbing onto the ridges to the north of the valley to attempt the glaciated peak rising above the Yala Glacier, Yala Peak (5500m). Crossing to the Chimsedang Lekh and the Kangjal Himal, a ridge of peaks bordering the valley to the south, we establish base camp below the Ganja La (5,121m). From here, there is a possible summit to climb, including Naya Kanga (5844m). All of the peaks are glaciated and offer a variety of climbing challenges amid spectacular Himalayan scenery. All of these summits will provide stunning views of the great mountains flanking the Langtang valley, including Ganchenpo (6387m), Dorje Lakpa (6990m), Pemthang Karpo Ri (6830m), Langtang Lirung (7245m), and across the border in Tibet rises the huge bulk of Shishapangma (8046m). These peaks are all located inside Langtang National Park.

Whilst most of the peaks are technically straightforward, to get the most from this trip, you must be a strong hill-walker with previous experience of snow climbing, or at least the completion of one winter course or similar.

Didn’t expect Langtang village to hit different on the way back down

Both climbs went smoothly for us, yala peak straightforward, naya kanga a bit more technical near the top but manageable. what surprised me was walking back through langtang village on day 14, remembered the 2015 earthquake damage from something i’d read before the trip and seeing the rebuilt homes up close hit harder than either summit did honestly. twenty days, would do it again.

Naya Kanga summit day tested me more than I expected

Went in thinking yala peak would be the harder of the two climbs since it comes first, turned out naya kanga at high camp humbled me properly, wind picked up badly overnight and none of us slept much before the ascent. the rest day built in at branchen kharka before the climb helped mentally more than physically i think, gave time to just sit with the nerves. reaching the summit and looking back at Langtang Lirung from up there made the rough night worth it. Kyanjin Gompa earlier in the trip was calm in a way that now feels like a different trip entirely.

Two summits in one trip, Yala first, then Naya Kanga

Liked that this trip stacks two peaks instead of just one, yala peak felt like a good warm up before naya kanga’s high camp pushed things up a notch, proper rope and crampon work on summit day at 5100m. Langtang Village and kyanjin gompa in the first week were relaxed by comparison, good acclimatization pacing before things got serious.
