Jiri Everest Base Camp Trek leads you to follow early legendary climbers Tenzing and Hillary’s footsteps to Everest Base Camp. This is an awesome classic and original trail to the Khumbu Region around Everest. Sallery to Everest base camp Trek is the most visited area since Lukla airstrip was built. After drawing a massive number of trekkers and mountaineers Mostly, they take a flight to Lukla to shorten the journey to Everest base camp.

On this trek to Everest base camp, you will be walking into a pristine environment away from the mainstream and a massive number of trekkers. This journey includes a visit to both the lower and upper areas of Everest known as the Khumbu region. where early explorers and adventurers used these original classic routes.

Starting with an exciting and scenic overland drive from Kathmandu to reach Jiri town popularly known as Switzerland of Nepal Himalaya. Located beneath Rolwaling Himal and Gaurishanker peaks around the Dolkha district of Mid-Eastern Nepal. Where most of the trekkers trek to Everest was done using this old and original walking trail.

Everest Base Camp Kalapathar Trek

Everest Base Camp Kalapathar Trek leads from Jiri following the early back trail past many interesting Sherpa and Rai villages. The most interesting part of this trek is the beautiful farmland and then entering into deep cool alpine woodland and visiting the interesting villages. You will see Bhandara, Kenja, Sete village, and Lamjura-la pass at above 3,530 meters high with impressive views.

At Everest base camp enjoy the views of the massive tumbling Khumbu Ice Falls and glaciers. It is standing beneath the world’s highest peak, and then our journey concludes walking back to Lukla. After a strong climb up at Kalapathar, the highest point of the adventure at 5,545 m offers you marvelous views of the surrounding high mountains with Everest at a close distance.

On arrival at Nepal's one and only International airport known as 'Tribhuvan' where our staff and guide will receive a warm welcome with garland, and then transfer to your hotel in the hub of Kathmandu in the Thamel area or near about. After getting refreshed from the flight, our guide will be brief with information regarding Everest Base Camp & Lamjura-La Pass Trekking with other norms do's and don'ts with evening group dinner in a pleasant Nepalese restaurant with culture shows as entertainment.
Starting early morning for an interesting overland journey towards the east of Kathmandu driving on the Nepal-Tibet/ China and Friendship highway for a few hours, after leaving Bhote Kosi River, the drive leads on winding uphill to Charikot, a nice scenic town with views of Gaurishanker and Melung Tse and as far towards Langtang and Everest towards the east. From here downhill to the Tama Kosi River and then drive climbs to reach Jiri, a nice hill town known as Switzerland of Nepal, due to its beautiful location with green hills and valley cooler climate including views of snow-clad peaks.
Starting the morning walk downhill past farm areas along small interesting rural villages to reach Kenja village, a lovely moderate size village at the bottom of Lamjura-la pass and Pikey Danda (ridge), this village offers views of Numbur peaks. After Kenja, a steep uphill climb all the way to overnight stop at Sete village from here onwards into the cooler alpine zone.
The morning begins with walking towards Lamjura-la pass with a climb into a forested area of rhododendron, pines, and oaks trees then through many small farmlands and hamlets, after a few hours of climb reaching on top of Lamjura pass marked by a big stupa with few lodges, from the top descend leads through the forest to Sherpa village at Toctoc. After a short stop continue walking on the winding path to Junbesi, and then downhill to Junbesi, a lovely large Sherpa village with an interesting monastery and a high school funded by Hillary Trust.
After a pleasant stop at Junbesi, a morning walk leads to a winding path with a glimpse of Mt. Everest and other snowcapped peaks, and then down towards a river to cross over the bridge, a short climb brings you to a nice Ringmo village, stopping here for lunch after a refreshing stop, an hour of slow climb into forested areas to reach Takshindu pass 3,070m high, decorated with Buddhist mani and Chhorten monuments with views of Numbur, Kusum Kanguru, Thamersarkhu and Kantega peaks. From here downhill to Nunthala past Takshindu village and old monastery, and continue to descend to reach farmland on the outskirts of the village, a short walk from the bottom of the hill brings you to a big village at Nuntahla also called Manidingma, a village of Rai, and Sherpa people.
Air gets cooler as the route leads close to the Khumbu area, on leaving the Everest region, the morning begins with a downhill into the forest to reach a bridge over the Dudh Kosi River, after crossing the raging Dudh Kosi River on winding uphill to Jubing village. After Jubing an hour's climb to Kharikhola at 2,200 m high, which is a large village of Sherpa and Magar tribes, after a short break heading uphill after crossing Kharikhola with a steep climb for an hour to our overnight stop at Bupsa, a small village perched on a ridge with superb views of rolling hills and valleys.
From Bupsa a slow and steady walk reaches the high Khumbu area where the temperature gets cooler as the walk continues through mixed alpine forest. Walk leads over Kharte Dande pass at 3,880m high, way above Dudh Kosi River and then reaching a nice place amid forest at Puiyan (Paya) village at 2,800 m high. From Puiyan after having lunch leading on a winding trail with views of Lukla town and its airstrip, then descends to Surkhe village for an overnight stop in the Khumbu area.
Morning on a pleasant undulating trail close to Lukla reaching Choplung village where the trail from Lukla and Jiri meets, from here to Phakding for an overnight stop, as our walk leads past villages and farmlands with grand views of hills and valleys then finally reaching Phakding village for an overnight stop in the comfort of nice and cozy lodge located by the raging Dudh Kosi River.
Today a long haul to reach at Sherpa capital in Namche Bazaar, starting with a gradual walk following the river upstream and crossing a few bridges to reach at Sagarmatha National Park entrance near Monjo village. Sagarmatha for Everest in Nepalese and Sherpa calls Chomolungma in both languages means 'Great Mother' From here a pleasant walk on the river bed and then climb for a few hours on a forested trail with views of snow-capped peaks, as the walk reaches an exciting town and village at Namche Bazaar.
A rest and a free day at Namche Bazaar for proper and necessary acclimatization at this great height of above 3,440 m before heading to higher ground, Namche spend the day with a scenic hike around and browsing the streets and shops, Namche holds a colorful and busy Saturday Market every week
From Namche walk leads on the gradual scenic winding path with a downhill to Imjatse River to reach Phunge-Tenga for lunch, an afternoon with an uphill climb into tall rhododendrons, pines, fir forest with grand views of snowcapped peaks. After a few hours of scenic and strenuous climb reaching at Thyangboche Monastery area, here enjoy the marvelous views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Kangtenga, Thamasarku, and Kwande with magnificent Mt. Amadablam, an afternoon with time to visit its interesting monastery and observe monks and priest on prayer.
Morning on downhill for an hour towards Imjatse River, after crossing a bridge walking into an open country where tree lines stop for a few short juniper and rhododendron bushes, uphill for a while to reach Pangboche village at 3,900 meters. This is the last permanent village before Dingboche and beyond, from here a slow climb to Somara for lunch and continue to walk with a climb to Dingboche village for an overnight stop, located within scenic Imjatse valley with excellent views of Ama Dablam and Island Peak.
After a pleasant stop at Dingboche, our morning walk led to a short climb facing excellent views, and then walk on a gradual scenic trail to Thugla for lunch, this is where the massive Khumbu glacier melts into a raging river. From here the Pheriche and Dingboche trail joins towards Everest Base Camp, after a break a steep climb for an hour to Thugla pass, witness stone memorials of unfortunate climbers who died climbing on Mt. Everest, Lhotse, or other high mountains. From here a nice walk to Lobuche for an overnight stop.
Today our adventure takes you to Everest Base Camp our main goal and highlight of the trip walking for a few hours with a short steep climb in between glacier and moraine, then reaching Gorakshep, beneath the lofty peak of Pumori and Kalapathar rocky hill. Walk continues towards Everest base camp, at base camp enjoy views of the massive Khumbu Ice Fall and glaciers, after an exciting time with an experience of a lifetime retrace the journey back to Gorakshep for an overnight stop.
Early morning climb on top of Kalapathar at above 5,545 m, our highest point of the adventure with magnificent views of mountains includes Mount Everest at close distance, after a great time on top descend back to Gorakshep for breakfast and continue to walk to Thugla, from here downhill to Pheriche around the windy valley with a nice scenic walk to Pheriche for an overnight stop. Pheriche with many good lodges with a health post and a station of HRA (Himalayan Rescue Association)
Walk leads on an alternative route from Pheriche then joining the same earlier route at Shomare and Pangboche village, walking on the same route past Thyangboche Monastery, return journey is much easier losing heights every hour, walk downhill with few short ups to reach Namche village located on a glacial valley, a quiet sleepy village with interesting Sherpa culture. Here with time walk up to its old monastery which houses a scalp believed to be of Yeti, one can witness with some donation.
From nice Namche walk towards another adjoining Manjo village and visit the national park check point for your permit checking, then walk down Phakding for a lunch break and then continue our journey on the same route towards Lukla where you fly back to Kathmandu for an overnight stop.
Morning as per our flight time transfer to Lukla Air terminal and then board the small plane for an exciting half-hour flight to reach the hustle and bustle of city life in Kathmandu. Rest of the day free and relax your body and muscles from the great adventure on Everest Base Camp Trekking.
Last day in Nepal with the Nepal holiday trip depart from the hotel as per your international flight for your onward destination country, our staff transfer you with a farewell garland or Buddhist silk scarf 'Khada' for your safe and good journey. Hoping that we will see you again.
